Maltby Street Market-the place you must visit in London

Last Saturday me and Eva from Adventures in cooking met in London to explore the Maltby Street Market. Two food lovers on a journey to discover one of the city’s best markets….I couldn’t have been more excited.Situated only a stone’s thrown away from either London Bridge or Bermondsey underground station, the market is really easy to find-just follow the scent of home-made,freshly cooked food. 🙂 You can also ask for directions, everyone knows where it is.

It’s a truly magical place. Not the market you would go to to buy ingredients for a dinner but a place, where you would hang out with your friends if you wanted an unforgettable breakfast or lunch experience.Me and Eva ”oched” and ”ached” as we were walking around the stalls, chatting to the sellers, who would talk passionately about their food and always offered to try some of the goodies.

It’s only a small street market and I personally wish it was a bit bigger.Despite its size, the variety and diversity of food will make your head spit.To name just a few, you’ll find there:freshly baked bread, cakes, cheese, jams and chutneys with some amazing flavours, local honeys, chocolates, scotch eggs, array of fresh sandwiches, beetroot cured salmon…..and lots more! There are also some cocktail bars and restaurants too.A foodie paradise!

Following the advice of the one friendly guy we met,we went to visit local brewery-Anspach & Hobday, which is only few steps away from the market. It made our day complete. We chatted and laughed sipping the best, traditionally brewed, local beer.Eva is such a friendly,warm-hearted person,a lovely company to be with.I couldn’t have wished for a better day.

If you ever visit London,Maltby Street Market and Anspach & Hobday brewery are the places you must visit.I can’t wait to go back. 🙂

Grilled fresh rosemary bread filled with melting goat cheese, honey and walnuts was the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten!
